If you have ever turned on your TV, you know about the Ancient Astronaut Theory. Practically everyone on the planet has seen at least one episode of Ancient Aliens on the History Channel.

The theory can be summed up this way; The ancient astronaut theory, also known as ancient aliens theory, proposes that extraterrestrial beings visited Earth in prehistoric and ancient times, influencing human culture, technology, and religion. Proponents argue that many ancient myths, deities, and unexplained artifacts or structures — such as the Egyptian pyramids, Nazca lines, or Sumerian texts — are evidence of advanced alien intervention rather than accomplished by human ingenuity alone. Authors like Erich von Däniken in his 1968 book Chariots of the Gods?, popularized the latest version of the theory. It is more truthful to state that proponents of the theory ask questions about events and places in our ancient history in relation to the extraterrestrial hypothesis.

This is quite a broad category to delve into and would be difficult to explore each and every facet that it encompasses. I will just point out some of the most prominent or most discussed data points within the theory and try to analyze those using research, logic, and reason. Nearly every scientist will tell you that there is absolutely zero “actual” evidence to support the theory, but I believe that the weight of enough circumstantial evidence should allow us to gauge the percent of probability either for or against the theory.

Maybe we can begin with one of the most publicized incidents in the history of our human existence due to the holy bible being the most printed book in the world. The “Ezekiel incident” from the Holy Bible brought to prominence by —the now famous author— Erich von Däniken.

Ezekiel’s Divine Encounter

Angeles encountered by Ezekiel

The passages in the Book of Ezekiel from the Holy Bible that describe his encounter with divine beings (referred to as living creatures and cherubim, often interpreted as angels, or by some, as extraterrestrials) are primarily found in Ezekiel chapters 1 and 10. Below is the entire text of these chapters from the King James Version of the Holy Bible.

The English word “cherubim” is not a translation of a known Hebrew meaning. It is a borrowed name whose original sense is uncertain, then filtered through Greek and Latin spelling and later English usage. In Hebrew the word is כְּרוּב (kərūḇ / keruv), plural כְּרוּבִים (kərūḇīm / keruvim). It appears about 90 times in the Hebrew Bible. Lexicons mark the derivation as uncertain: there is no clear Hebrew root that explains it. This uncertainty alone gives us room for an entirely different interpretation of what Ezekiel was trying to describe. One interesting interpretation of this word "cherubim" in relation to other verses in the Bible is —“Yahweh who sits on the cherubim” and if this a more correct translation of the word, then interpreting the "cherubim" as a vehicle is not a great leap.

Ezekiel Chapters 1 & 10

  • 1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.

  • 2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity,

  • 3 The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldean by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him.

  • 4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire enfolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

  • 5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

  • 6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

  • 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the color of burnished brass.

  • 8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings.

  • 9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward.

  • 10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.

  • 11 Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies.

  • 12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went.

  • 13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning.

  • 14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.

  • 15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.

  • 16 The appearance of the wheels and their work was like unto the color of a beryl: and they four had one likeness: and their appearance and their work was as it were a wheel in the middle of a wheel.

  • 17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they went.

  • 18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were full of eyes round about them four.

  • 19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.

  • 20 Whither soever the spirit was to go, they went, thither was their spirit to go; and the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

  • 21 When those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels.

  • 22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the color of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.

  • 23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.

  • 24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings.

  • 25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.

  • 26 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.

  • 27 And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about.

  • 28 As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

  • 1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim there appeared over them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.

  • 2 And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.

  • 3 Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court.

  • 4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of the LORD’S glory.

  • 5 And the sound of the cherubims’ wings was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of the Almighty God when he speaketh.

  • 6 And it came to pass, that when he had commanded the man clothed with linen, saying, Take fire from between the wheels, from between the cherubim; then he went in, and stood beside the wheels.

  • 7 And one cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed with linen: who took it, and went out.

  • 8 And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings.

  • 9 And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the color of a beryl stone.

  • 10 And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel.

  • 11 When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went.

  • 12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.

  • 13 As for the wheels, it was cried unto them in my hearing, O wheel.

  • 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of a cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

  • 15 And the cherubim were lifted up. This is the living creature that I saw by the river of Chebar.

  • 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.

  • 17 When they stood, these stood; and when they were lifted up, these lifted up themselves also: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

  • 18 Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim.

  • 19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

  • 20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were the cherubim.

  • 21 Every one had four faces apiece, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings.

  • 22 And the likeness of their faces was the same faces which I saw by the river of Chebar, their appearances and themselves: they went every one straight forward

It is quite obvious that Ezekiel had no frame of reference for what he was describing. He was seeing and experiencing something that he was completely unfamiliar with, and was clearly struggling to describe it. It is also quite apparent that his vocabulary was lacking in the respect that he repeats several of the descriptions as if in an attempt to stress certain points he was trying to convey.

At first glance it appears to be a vision rather than a physical experience but there are indicators that what he saw may have been physical reality.

It is written at the beginning that he said (1:1), “that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.” However, this does not necessarily mean that it truly was a vision because if someone today saw something even remotely similar to this descend from the sky, they too would probably think they were seeing things and would most likely have difficulty describing what they were seeing. Saying you had a vision is a way to convey that you are seeing something that you cannot accept as real.

Also notice the order of the statements. First he states that the heavens opened, then he states he saw visions of God. This is a strong indicator that what he saw was most likely not a vision. How could the heavens open before the vision began?

He then proceeds to describe what could easily be actual ships descending from the sky (1:4). This too is one of the indicators that he may be describing a real event. The fact that he has difficulty describing the “creatures” is another tell. It is apparent that he doesn’t have the advanced vocabulary to describe what he is seeing. He compares the creatures to humans and describes details pointing out how they differ from us. They have four faces, & four wings, etc (1:6). He compares their feet to calves feet, but covered in burnished brass (1:7). He is struggling to describe them. He struggles not once, but several times. As if he is attempting to convince you (the reader) that his description is accurate. This struggle would be very difficult to fake and is not how people describe "visions".

Josef F. Blumrich was a NASA engineer who initially set out to prove Erich von Däniken wrong regarding his theory that the prophet Ezekiel’s biblical vision described an encounter with aliens and their spacecraft, rather than a divine event.

However, after detailed analysis, Blumrich reversed his position and concluded that Ezekiel’s description could indeed represent advanced extraterrestrial technology, leading him to author the book The Spaceships of Ezekiel in 1974.

Using his engineering expertise, Blumrich created this interpretation of Ezekiel’s description of what came down from the heavens.

I am not fully convinced either way, but I am open-minded enough to understand that it certainly could be interpreted that Ezekiel experienced an actual extraterrestrial visitation within our three-dimensional reality. This episode in Biblical history has been debated a great deal and I suspect that it will continue to be debated for the next millennia or two.

Nuremberg UFO Battle in the Sky – April 14, 1561

Celestial phenomenon over Nuremberg – April 14, 1561

The broadsheet, illustrated with a woodcut engraving and text by Hans Glaser, measures 26.2 centimeters (10.3 in) by 38.0 centimeters (15.0 in). The document is archived in the prints and drawings collection at the Zentral bibliothek Zürich in Zürich, Switzerland. According to the broadsheet, around dawn on 14 April 1561, “many men and women” of Nuremberg saw what the broadsheet describes as an aerial battle “out of the sun”, followed by the appearance of a large black triangular object and exhausted combatant spheres falling to earth in clouds of smoke. The broadsheet states that witnesses observed hundreds of spheres, cylinders, and other odd-shaped objects that moved erratically overhead. The woodcut illustration depicts objects of various shapes, including crosses (with or without spheres on the arms), small spheres, two large crescents, a black spear, and cylindrical objects from which several small spheres emerged and darted around the sky at dawn.

Aerial Battle over Nuremberg – April 14, 1561

Celestial phenomenon over Nuremberg – April 14, 1561

The text of the broadsheet has been translated by Ilse Von Jacobi as follows:

In the morning of April 14, 1561, at daybreak, between 4 and 5 a.m., a dreadful apparition occurred on the sun, and then this was seen in Nuremberg in the city, before the gates and in the country – by many men and women. At first there appeared in the middle of the sun two blood-red semi-circular arcs, just like the moon in its last quarter. And in the sun, above and below and on both sides, the color was blood, there stood a round ball of partly dull, partly black ferrous color. Likewise there stood on both sides and as a torus about the sun such blood-red ones and other balls in large number, about three in a line and four in a square, also some alone. In between these globes there were visible a few blood-red crosses, between which there were blood-red strips, becoming thicker to the rear and in the front malleable like the rods of reed-grass, which were intermingled, among them two big rods, one on the right, the other to the left, and within the small and big rods there were three, also four and more globes. These all started to fight among themselves, so that the globes, which were first in the sun, flew out to the ones standing on both sides, thereafter, the globes standing outside the sun, in the small and large rods, flew into the sun. Besides the globes flew back and forth among themselves and fought vehemently with each other for over an hour. And when the conflict in and again out of the sun was most intense, they became fatigued to such an extent that they all, as said above, fell from the sun down upon the earth ‘as if they all burned’ and they then wasted away on the earth with immense smoke. After all this there was something like a black spear, very long and thick, sighted; the shaft pointed to the east, the point pointed west. Whatever such signs mean, God alone knows. Although we have seen, shortly one after another, many kinds of signs on the heaven, which are sent to us by the almighty God, to bring us to repentance, we still are, unfortunately, so ungrateful that we despise such high signs and miracles of God. Or we speak of them with ridicule and discard them to the wind, in order that God may send us a frightening punishment on account of our ungratefulness. After all, the God-fearing will by no means discard these signs, but will take it to heart as a warning of their merciful Father in heaven, will mend their lives and faithfully beg God, that He may avert His wrath, including the well-deserved punishment, on us, so that we may temporarily here and perpetually there, live as his children. For it, may God grant us his help, Amen. By Hanns Glaser, letter-painter of Nuremberg.

Skeptics assert that the phenomenon was likely to have been another atmospheric phenomenon, such as a sun dog, although the print does not fit the usual classic description of the phenomena.

A sun dog, also known as a parhelion (plural: parhelia), is an atmospheric optical phenomenon that appears as a bright spot or halo-like glow on one or both sides of the sun, often at a distance of about 22 degrees. Typically seen when the sun is low on the horizon, sun dogs are caused by the refraction of sunlight through hexagonal ice crystals in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. These crystals act like prisms, bending the light and often creating a colorful display with red on the side closest to the sun and blue or white farther out. Sun dogs are most vivid in cold, clear conditions where ice crystals are abundant, and they may appear as part of a larger 22-degree halo around the sun.

UFOs on the ground (highlighted in the woodcut image)

Sun Dog Parhelio Saskatoon, Canada - 2022

The sun dog is a member of the family of halos caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere. Sun dogs typically appear as a pair of subtly colored patches of light, around 22° to the left and right of the Sun, and at the same altitude above the horizon as the Sun. They can be seen anywhere in the world during any season, but are not always obvious or bright. Sun dogs are best seen and most conspicuous when the Sun is near the horizon.

Sun dogs are red-colored at the side nearest the Sun; farther out the colors grade through oranges to blue. The colors overlap considerably and are muted, never pure or saturated. The colors of the sun dog finally merge into the white of the parhelic circle (if the latter is visible).

The same plate-shaped ice crystals that cause sun dogs are also responsible for the colorful circumzenithal arc, meaning that these two types of halo tend to co-occur. The latter is often missed by viewers, since it is located more or less directly overhead. Another halo variety often seen together with sun dogs is the 22° halo, which forms a ring at roughly the same angular distance from the sun as the sun dogs, thus appearing to interconnect them. As the Sun rises higher, the rays passing through the plate crystals are increasingly skewed from the horizontal plane, causing their angle of deviation to increase and the sun dogs to move farther from the 22° halo, while staying at the same elevation.

Back to the "Aerial Battle over Nuremberg – April 14, 1561". What makes this historical event stand out as a possible UFO encounter is the following excerpt from the article:

”... they became fatigued to such an extent that they all, as said above, fell from the sun down upon the earth ‘as if they all burned’ and they then wasted away on the earth with immense smoke.”

UFOs on the ground (highlighted in the woodcut image)

This sentence from the translation all on its’ own is enough to shoot down (pardon – no pun intended) the “sun dog” theory. If anything, there may well have been a sun dog along with the spectacle but a sun dog alone cannot account for crashed UFOs on the ground emitting immense smoke, nor can it account for the massive black arrow object that appeared at the end —nor the fact that this incident continued for over an hour. Black is not a color associated with the sun dog phenomenon, or any other atmospheric phenomenon either.

History – Ancient Aliens via TheLifebeyondearth YouTube™ Channel

It is a fact that people (humans) in our past were no less intelligent than we are right now. I believe those Nuremberg citizens saw and recorded an extraordinary event that most likely involved extraterrestrials in what amounted to an aerial battle. Most specifically because remnants of the battle left crashed and burning UFOs on the ground. Crashed and burning vehicles on the ground cannot be "illusory" which is what the debunkers would have you believe.

The Aurora Texas UFO Crash of 1897

Aurora, Tx UFO Crash – 1897

Aurora, Tx UFO Crash – 1897

During the 1896-1897 time-frame (some six or seven years before the Wright Brothers’ first flight), numerous sightings of a cigar-shaped mystery airship were reported across the United States. One of these accounts appeared in the April 19, 1897, edition of the Dallas Morning News. Written by Aurora resident S.E. Haydon, the UFO is said to have hit a windmill on the property of a Judge J.S. Proctor two days earlier at around 6am local (Central) time, resulting in its crash. The pilot (who was reported to be ‘not of this world’, and a ‘Martian’ according to a reported Army officer from nearby Fort Worth) did not survive the crash, and was buried ‘with Christian rites’ at the nearby Aurora Cemetery. (The cemetery contains a Texas Historical Commission marker mentioning the incident.)

Haydon article Aurora Texas UFO incident - 1897

Haydon article Aurora Texas UFO incident - 1897

Reportedly, wreckage from the crash site was dumped into a nearby water well located under the damaged windmill, while some ended up with the alien in the grave. Adding to the mystery was the story of Mr. Brawley Oates, who purchased Judge Proctor’s property around 1945. Oates cleaned out the debris from the well in order to use it as a water source, but later developed an extremely severe case of arthritis, which he claimed to be the result of contaminated water from the wreckage dumped into the well. As a result, Oates sealed up the well with a concrete slab and placed an outbuilding atop the slab. (According to writing on the slab, this was done in 1957.)

The incident has been investigated on numerous occasions. One was broadcast by local television station KDFW FOX 4 and two were aired on cable television. UFO Files investigation: On December 2, 2005, UFO Files first aired an episode related to this incident, titled ‘The Texas Roswell’. The episode featured a 1973 investigation led by Bill Case, an aviation writer for the Dallas Times Herald and the Texas state director of Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

MUFON uncovered two new eyewitnesses to the crash. Mary Evans, who was 15 at the time, told of how her parents went to the crash site (they forbade her from going) and the discovery of the alien body. Charlie Stephens, who was age 10, told how he saw the airship trailing smoke as it headed north toward Aurora. He wanted to see what happened, but his father made him finish his chores; later, he told how his father went to town the next day and saw wreckage from the crash.

MUFON then investigated the Aurora Cemetery, and uncovered a grave marker that appeared to show a flying saucer of some sort (seen in the image above – left), as well as readings from its metal detector.

MUFON also asked for permission to exhume the site, but the cemetery association declined permission. After the MUFON investigation, the marker mysteriously disappeared from the cemetery and a three-inch pipe was placed into the ground; the MUFON metal detector no longer picked up metal readings from the grave, thus it was presumed that the metal was removed from the grave.

The 1897 UFO crash in Aurora, Texas – “Martian pilot” was buried at the local cemetery – Eyes On Cinema Youtube

Isn't it obvious from the sign that used to be posted at the cemetery, along with the pictures of the grave marker, plus the testimony of local residents that this is a real incident involving a UFO that crashed? The question is: Who removed all the evidence, and why? If it was not something otherworldly, then why bother digging up the grave and removing the evidence? The outlines of a cover up remain. Is it proof that something atypical or extraterrestrial happened in Aurora, Texas in April of 1897?

So, now that I have covered 3 historical events What do you think? I believe that there is enough evidence to warrant thorough investigations. If evidence is continually dismissed, how can we continue to call it science?
